The Art of creating Fashion sketches.

Fashion design process starts with drawings.
The new ideas by Fashion designers need to be sketching out first before sewing and tailoring.
Fashion drawings are quite different from traditional sketches. Usually the body height is approximately  7-8 times the length of the head.
But the fashion drawings include exaggerated features where the body is 10-12 times the length of the  head. It includes elongated neck, arms and legs. In most of the sketches  the weight of the model is more on one foot then the other , the hip joint on that side will be higher. The hang of clothing should be noted and where folds and creases occur when the model moves. Change of movements  originates  mainly from the hip, waist and shoulders.

To keep focus on the composition and careful details fashion artists chose graphite pencil. The result is a striking combination of realism and fantasy. To express the body they concentrate on the proportion and  movements.
Adding colors  to fashion sketches increase  the visual impact to the idea.

Fashion  designers make references to art and original paintings  in their work. In fact some fashion sketches are already artworks.
A fashion painting is effect , a very personal greeting card that can literally transcend time or distance  to unfold in viewer's mind like a fragrant and wild newborn flower. Hence the argument might be made that the artist hails from 
 Fashion illustrators, who takes the art of fashion sketching to a whole new level  often do "inside their  shapes" greatly determines the stile and expressive content of their artwork.
The abstract painting bellow is an original painting on five canvases which was created from fashion sketches. The painter shows very simple dresses and creates the atmosphere of the fashion show with the moves of the models only.
